Columbia Asia, today opened its new hospital in Vietnam, the latest addition to the group’s hospitals in the region.
Columbia Hospital-Binh Duong is the 22nd healthcare facility in the region and third facility in Vietnam after the one in Gia Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City. The group also has an international clinic in District One, Ho Chi Minh City.
Prior to the opening of Columbia Hospital-Binh Duong, the company has medical facilities here in Malaysia, namely Setapak, Cheras, Bukit Rimau, Nusajaya, Puchong, Taiping, Bintulu, Miri, Seremban and Shah Alam, all built among neighbourhoods of middle-income families.
“Binh Duong has an increasing population and so we are here to meet the demand for quality healthcare now and in the future,” says Dr. Thai Thuong Thuong, the General Director of Columbia Hospital-Binh Duong. “We will also strive to become the preferred healthcare provider for families, and to be on the medical panel of companies and insurance providers.”
“Columbia Hospital-Binh Duong follows the Columbia Asia business model that focuses on medical excellence and caring patient services. This community hospital is built smaller than the standard private hospital, allowing it to provide private healthcare at affordable rates while helping to ease patient flow and operate more efficiently” says Kelvin Tan, Chief Executive Officer, Columbia Asia Sdn Bhd, Southeast Asia. This manageable size also optimises efficiency of care, providing shorter length of stay for patients.
Columbia Asia also has a comprehensive medical programme and a strict clinical governance process, based on international standards to ensure the best medical and surgical care for patients. “Quality and ethics are fundamental pillars in our practice of healthcare” says Tan.
Columbia Hospital-Binh Duong focuses on general surgery, internal medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics, gastroenterology, anesthesiology, radiology, obstetrics and gynecology as well as ear, nose and throat (ENT). The hospital also specialises in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy).
The hospital has a capacity of 100 beds with a total of 34 medical consultants. It is equipped with three operating rooms, a 10-cot nursery, four delivery suites and seven emergency bays. On top of that, it offers ambulatory, dialysis, endoscopy and physiotherapy services.
“As a community hospital, we have some of the most advanced facilities to offer” says Dr. Thuong. “For us, smaller is better - more attention, more focus and at less cost for our patients.”
