The department of bariatric surgery at Columbia Asia performs all types of weight loss surgeries tailored to meet individual patient needs and gives life long support after surgery. The team, which includes a bariatric surgeon, bariatric nutritionist, psychologist and trained anesthetist, provides comprehensive care.

Cancer Screening

Early detection and intervention is essential, particularly for cancer when the consequences of disease may be serious. Accurate early diagnosis of cancer (or pre-cancer) gives the opportunity to start treatment before disease progresses, thus potentially reducing the need for aggressive therapy, reducing the likelihood of metastatic disease, and averting cancer deaths.

The Cancer screening package at Columbia Asia is aimed at individuals above 40 years.

The annual program consists of:

Daycare Surgery

General Surgery

The department of Surgery at Columbia Asia provides comprehensive round the clock surgical services. The department provides services for all general surgical procedures including advanced gastrointestinal surgeries, rectal surgeries and laparoscopic procedures including advanced laparoscopic surgeries.

The general surgeons work closely with other specialists involved in each patient's care to diagnose and provide timely surgical intervention for complex conditions.

Hypertension Clinic

The Hypertension clinic protocols have been designed based on AHA guidelines and aims at providing comprehensive management and support for patients who have been diagnosed as hypertensive. The clinic includes patient evaluation through a range of lab, radiology and Cardiology investigations. The aim is prevention / early detection / optimum management of complications of hypertension.

The annual program consists of:

• Stress test ( individuals who find it difficult to walk on the tread mill will be offered ECG + Echo cardiography in lieu of stress test)

Intensive Care Units

The intensive care units in the hospital facilitate comprehensive close monitoring of critically ill patients.

The hospital has 12 intensive care beds comprising of:

• ICU : the units comprise of 12 beds manned by Consultant Anesthesiologists round the clock. The units maintain strict staffing and infection control protocols and are equipped with state of the art equipment including ventilators and central monitoring systems
• NICU: comprises of 2 beds. The unit is equipped with open care system for continuous monitoring of sick neonates. The unit is manned by experienced nurses trained in neonatal intensive care protocols. All standard precautions are strictly followed for maintaining infection control standards

Internal Medicine

The department of Internal Medicine has full OPD coverage for addressing complaints related to all systems and treatment of inpatients with problems related to respiratory, cardiac, neurological, endocrine, diabetic complications, preoperative assessment and management of underlying conditions.

The department also offers specialty services in infectious diseases by qualified ID specialists and support to other services such as surgery, OBG, gastroenterology and neurology for medical problems.

Laboratory

The Hospital Laboratory, located on the ground floor is a full service facility performing diagnostic testing in laboratory medicine and anatomic pathology. Committed to providing top-quality patient care, our lab is staffed round the clock, and a pathologist is on call 24 hours a day.

Maxillofacial Surgery

The department of Maxillofacial surgery at Columbia Asia offers world-class treatment by internationally acknowledged professionals using top-of-the-line equipment and methods like digital radiography and cosmetic imaging that incorporate medical science's advances.

Obstetrics & Gynecology

The Obstetrics & Gynecology department provides comprehensive care for females right from puberty to menopause. The department comprises of experienced & qualified doctors with in-house round the clock availability of postgraduate resident doctors.

The Orthopedic department is managed by in house full time consultants, part time and visiting consultants, each of them having many years of experience in various fields of Orthopedic surgery.

The facilities available in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) includes sophisticated real time video monitor assisted diagnostic equipment with in built thermoregulatory and antibacterial systems which is a highly sophisticated advanced imported ENT workstation model.

The otolaryngology operative facility is equipped with highly sophisticated state of the art image guidance systems for precise target oriented surgeries. The equipment incorporates:

• Childbirth and New-Born care - All children born at Columbia Asia Hospital are seen by the Pediatrician. All deliveries are also attended by the Pediatrician. We have well equipped delivery rooms and nursery to take care of the new-born
• Special Care Baby Unit for sick neonates we have a well equipped Special Care Baby Unit with well trained staff. We manage neonatal problems including Neonatal Jaundice, Respiratory distress etc.

Pharmacy

The pharmacy at Columbia Asia features an integrated system directed towards both inpatients and the medication needs of outpatients. Radiology

The Radiology department is committed to providing safe, reliable and speedy radio diagnostic support round-the-clock.

The department has facilities for all 'conventional' radiography including bedside radiographs for the critically ill patient who cannot be moved.

Other modalities include the following:

• C arm (with image intensifier) permits 'real time' investigations such as barium meal and enema examinations in gastro-intestinal disorders, hysterosalpingography in infertility, and IVP in genito-urinary complaints, with the least discomfort to patients
• Ultrasonography is another real time imaging modality. Cross sectional images of the scanned portion are visualized through various planes to identify, localize and diagnose the complaint
  
  Doppler examinations to image blood vessels and profile the hemodynamics within can be carried out on our ultrasound machine. This is invaluable in the management of varicose veins, diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis, and arterial blocks.
• CT scan adds to the cross sectional imaging modalities available for accurate localization and diagnosis. CT scanners have the advantage of permitting access to an acutely ill patient for resuscitation while scanning is in progress
• Mammography augments our endeavor to provide comprehensive medical care to women with an emphasis on breast screening examinations, in addition to diagnosing the cause of a palpable breast lump

Rooms

Columbia Asia offers a variety of room types for inpatients. All patient rooms are air conditioned and are equipped with centralized medical gas systems. Each room is connected to the nurse station with the nurse call system.

The room architecture allows all rooms to be naturally sunlit and the size allows placement of attendant beds in the rooms.

The toilets have been designed in accordance with specifications for handicapped toilets and this allows easy maneuverability of wheelchairs.

With the above in mind Columbia Asia has established a well-equipped Vascular & Endovascular department. Our team of experienced vascular surgeons is available for providing inpatient and outpatient services to patients.

This is complimented by an Ultrasound/Duplex (Doppler) scanner which can provide non-invasive imaging of all the peripheral vessels.
