May 05, 2017

Johor Bahru, April 2017 – Columbia Asia Hospital – Iskandar Puteri has organized a Dengue Awareness Campaign on 29 April 2017 to raise awareness amongst the community of Bukit Indah on dengue prevention in order to reduce mortality as a result of the dengue fever in conjunction with World Health Day. The hospital received cooperative support from the school and community to fight against dengue, which has become a global problem of today.

Primary prevention is the most effective measure in dengue prevention and control. The Hospital encourages ‘gotong royong’ with a hope that would make the students and community aware on ways of preventing and eradicating Aedes mosquitoes through the ‘gotong royong’ activity.

The awareness drive was jointly organized by Columbia Asia Hospital – Iskandar Puteri together with MBJBT, COMBI 710 Johor, Millesime Hotel and Bukit Indah School, where there were 180 volunteers participated in the wonderful community activity to clean up the school compound and surrounding residential areas. The event was officiated by Y.B Er Siau Kheng, Deputy Chief of WHIP, Johor Bahru Tengah Municipal Council (MBJBT).

This is the second time Columbia Asia Hospital- Iskandar Puteri has organized a Dengue Awareness Campaign. The event is part of the hospital Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to bring together the community to promote healthy living and take lead in caring for their living environment.
