Johor Bahru, Dec 14, 2019 – Newly-opened private hospital, Columbia Asia Hospital – Tebrau (CAH-Tebrau) organized an all-day fitness event called AyuhSihat! at the hospital today. This effort was not only to engage with the community in and around Tebrau but also help raise funds for the Tunku Laksamana Cancer Foundation. Proceeds were channeled towards providing assistance of care and relief to cancer patients in Johor.
“As a new hospital, we try to reach out to as many people as possible. An event like this is just one of the ways to get people to come to this hospital and get to know us,” said Regional General Manager of Columbia Asia (Southern Region) based at CAH-Tebrau, Puan Rahani Yaacob. “As a new member of this community, it is important that we make our presence felt.”
With the increasing rate of non-communicable diseases in Malaysia such as heart diseases and diabetes, the public needs to be informed about how to guard themselves against these diseases. Events like AyuhSihat! get people together to have fun, do their bit for others and try new workout routines.
Nowadays, yoga is not just yoga. There is Laughter Yoga and Yoga for Kids, both of which were part of the programme at AyuhSihat! Also held at this event were trendy cardio exercises such as KpopX, Tabata, Fitbounce, Zumba and Muay Thai. Some 150 participants attended AyuhSihat!, all charged up and buzzing with energy at every workout session!
For those who preferred to lay low, they strolled from booth to booth, visiting the wellness market that displayed organic products, essential oils and the likes. They also cycled their way to fresh fruit juices on the Juice Bike and took IG-worthy pictures at the AyuhSihat! trampoline photo booth.
“We are a few weeks away from 2020. Let’s take charge of our health and change our lifestyle. Make it a healthy one,” said Puan Rahani who plans to make CAH – Tebrau an advocate of health and wellness through events like AyuhSihat! “Don’t wait until you get sick. Exercise, watch what you eat, go for annual health screenings to make sure everything is alright.”
Among those who attended the event were Columbia Asia Southeast Asia CEO, Kelvin Tan. Also present were CAH-Tebrau’s consultants and HODs who were sporting enough to participate in the workout sessions!
