Columbia Asia Hosts Its First-ever Community Health Day in Klang

Local communities enjoy a day of educational and fun-filled activities perfect for the entire family

KLANG, 1 October 2017 – Private healthcare company, Columbia Asia Sdn Bhd hosted it’s first-ever Community Health Day at the compound of their new hospital in Klang. The event, the Columbia Asia Hospital – Klang Community Health Day which was aimed at promoting healthy living and community wellness. In line with the message of Right Here, For You, Columbia Asia Hospital – Klang aspires to improve the health and well-being of the community, by educating and empowering the public with knowledge on healthy lifestyle choices.

“A healthy lifestyle is important for everyone. When we look after our body, we will not only feel better, both emotionally and physically, but feel much fitter too. Through this Community Health Day, the public learned and had access to information about health, as well as health checks and advice at our health screening booths,” said Wong Wai Mun, General Manager of Columbia Asia Hospital – Klang.

Among the activities organised during the Community Health Day includes free health check-ups for blood pressure and cholesterol, blood donation drive, basic health screening by medical officers from the hospital and physio back assessments.

The event also brought smiles and cheers to the families and local communities who took part in a series of educational and fun games like Bike & Blend Juice Competition, face-painting and Zumba exercises. The children also had the chance to see the workings of an ambulance in the ambulance tour. On top of that, the health fair-goers were entertained by clowns and Columbia Asia’s own mascot, Zoey the Parrot made an appearance.

At the event, Columbia Asia took the opportunity to honour two local heroes, Reach Out Malaysia and Pure Love Caring Fund for their efforts in helping the Klang community. Reach Out Malaysia is an organisation that focuses on providing nutrition, medical support and training skills for the poor and underprivileged as well as help them to re-enter society while Pure Love Caring Fund provides basic needs to the widows, orphans and those who are in need including underprivileged communities.

“We are very grateful for the support from Columbia Asia. We aim to do what we can to help the underprivileged meet their basic needs and I am glad Columbia Asia is supporting us,” said Feexa Nicoll, Co-Founder of Reach Out Malaysia (ROM).

The Community Health Day was organised in conjunction with the recent opening of Columbia Asia Hospital – Klang. “We were thrilled to have so many families joining us for the event and we hope that they will take advantage of this fun, information-filled event in order to lead a healthier lifestyle,” added Wong.
