Columbia Kids Club Celebrates Fourth Year Anniversary with a Thrilling Family-friendly Adventure Day

April 19, 2018

Columbia Kids Club recently organized a children’s event at Perdana Botanical Gardens (Lake Gardens), KL. The objective of this event was to encourage children to explore outdoor games. In this digital age where digital devices seem to capture children’s interest more than the outdoors, this event aimed to offer children between the ages of four and 12 some fun in the sun during school holidays. It also got families together, spending quality time in a ‘journey of disovery’ with the little ones.

The event, held on Sunday 3rd Dec, 2017, was open to all; members and public alike. For RM5 per child, young participants enjoyed specially-designed games that require them to run, crawl, jump and balance. The total amount collected from participation fees was doubled by Columbia Asia before being handed in full to Diabetes Malaysia. The NGO will use this fund to assist diabetic children who are registered with Diabetes Malaysia.

To encourage children to take part from the first game to the last, they had to collect stamps at every game station before they received goody bags. Exciting games had exciting names; Shoot and Drop -- every successful hit at the target board drops the target into a pool of plastic balls; the literal Human Foosball Cup -- participants try to score a goal while holding onto a rope; Giant's Pill -- children sit on a bedsheet while parents drag the sheets to the finish line; the Bucket Head Race -- participants pour water out of cups on their heads, into cups placed on their team-member who is lying on the ground.

Other activities held during the event were cheerleading performances, aerobics session, balloon sculptures, giant bubbles, bouncing castles, clowns, sticker tattoos and sand art. Columbia Kids Club’s mascot, Zoey the Parrot, led the Zumba Kids dance performance. She was a hit with the children! Cheerleaders from Cheer Aspirations hyped up the event with their acrobatic acts and energetic cheers.
