Insulin merupakan hormon yang dihasilkan oleh pankreas supaya tahap glukos terkawal dan tidak kekal tinggi serta pastikan bacaan gula normal ibu hamil.<br \/><br \/>Dalam kalangan wanita yang hamil pula, hormon-hormon yang dihasilkan ketika hamil akan berlawan dengan insulin. Ini menyebabkan paras glukos wanita hamil mudah meningkat naik.<br \/><br \/>Setelah bayi dilahirkan dan uri dikeluarkan, tahap glukos akan kembali normal semula. Inilah yang dikenali sebagai\u00a0<em>gestational diabetes mellitues<\/em>\u00a0(GDM) atau masalah kencing manis ketika hamil.<br \/><br \/>Pesakit GDM selalunya mengamalkan pemakanan yang seimbang tetapi tidak melakukan senaman, tahap gula atau glukos selalunya akan kekal tinggi.<br \/><br \/>Senaman yang dimaksudkan adalah senaman sederhana seperti berjalan kaki selama 30 hingga 45 minit setiap hari.
