Gone are the days where the mother in labor curses her husband for making her go through the torture of labor. These zones are massaged in order to increase the circulation within the body, reducing tension and enhance relaxation.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Hypnosis<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Induces a state of concentration, combined with relaxation, to reduce pain perception.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Acupuncture<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Application of pressure to increase the level of endorphins (natural pain-relieving chemicals) in the body.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Breathing exercises<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The type of breathing that is most beneficial at the beginning of a contraction, while it lasts and as it ends.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; A machine generating low level electrical impulses that are transmitted through electrodes placed on the women\u2019s back. Pain relief is achieved by impulses stimulating nerves in the back and interfere with the pain signals transmitted to the brain which also encourages a build-up of the natural pain-relieving chemicals (endorphins) in the body.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2bd8a83 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"2bd8a83\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7cb071d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7cb071d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" id=\"subtopic02\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Pharmalogical pain control :<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-293b28f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"293b28f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ol><li><strong>Entonox gas inhalation<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 It is a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen given through a demand valve mask during contraction pain. Side-effects are dry mouth, nausea, dizziness, disorientation and sedation.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Pethidine<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 It is a synthetic opioid and a potent analgesic, but can cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, sedation, delayed breast feeding in the mother and respiratory depression in the baby as this drug crosses the placenta blood barrier.<br \/>\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Epidural<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 This method has the minimum side-effects to mother and baby. It is the ideal mode of pain relief and currently is the commonest and most preferred mode of analgesia.
