KUALA LUMPUR, 28 July 2025 – Columbia Asia, in collaboration with Media Prima, today marked the successful completion of its six-month Health Transformation Program (HTP) x MPB FIT-Tastic Pre Diabetic Program; a targeted prediabetes screening and lifestyle intervention initiative for Media Prima employees.
Held at the Media Prima theatrette in Balai Berita Bangsar, the closing ceremony recognised outstanding participants who showed significant improvements in HbA1c reduction, muscle gain and positive weight loss.
Winners received attractive prizes such as home appliances and retail vouchers from their employer, Media Prima, to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.
A total of 17 participants completed the program where 71 per cent successfully reversed their HbA1C readings to normal, 29 per cent showed significantly decreasing levels, and one remained unchanged. The participants who hailed from various departments at Media Prima, were guided throughout the program by Medical Officer, Dr Tan Shang Rou, and Dietitian, Ms Yap Zi Qian, both from Columbia Asia Hospital – Petaling Jaya.
“The main objective of the program is to reverse one’s prediabetes level to normal level, delaying its progression to full-blown (Type 2) diabetes. I understand the challenges participants face. It can sometimes feel like you are being forced to give up your favorite foods or skip events where there would be food galore,” said Columbia Asia Corporate Client Services Manager & Dietitian/HTP lead, Nurullatifah Fauzan.
“But even small changes can improve health conditions over time if they keep on practicing and maintaining what they have learned throughout the program. For example, they used to struggle with portion control but this program has taught them how to apply portion-control correctly. When these good habits find their way into their daily life, it slowly becomes their lifestyle.”
Participants were selected based on pre-screening criteria identifying them as prediabetic. The program kicked off last year in September with most individuals starting to see changes in their blood sugar and physical metrics within the first few weeks of starting the program.
