CHERAS, February 2026 – Columbia Asia Hospital Cheras is proud to announce a significant advancement in our orthopedic services: Dr. Manmohan Singh, Consultant Orthopedic & Spine Surgeon, has successfully performed the hospital’s first robotic-assisted bilateral total knee replacement (TKR) — and is the first Columbia Asia consultant in Malaysia to perform this procedure using robotic guidance.
Robotic assistance in knee arthroplasty supports enhanced surgical planning and precision during implant positioning. When appropriately indicated and performed within a multidisciplinary setting, this technology can contribute to improved alignment accuracy and reproducible surgical technique, which may translate into more predictable functional outcomes and rehabilitation pathways for patients.
This achievement was made possible by meticulous teamwork across perioperative services, including our operating theatre, anesthesia, nursing, and physiotherapy teams. Their combined expertise ensured the procedure proceeded safely and that the patient commenced an early, structured rehabilitation program.
We would also like to highlight Dr. Manmohan Singh’s contributions to the wider surgical community. Recently, he represented Malaysia at the 4th MIS Spine Week of Thailand during the MISSAT Annual Conference & Global Endoscopic Spine Day in Bangkok, sharing his expertise in endoscopic spine surgery with international colleagues.
We congratulate Dr. Manmohan and the entire team for advancing our capabilities in minimally invasive orthopedic care and for reinforcing Columbia Asia Hospital Cheras’ commitment to delivering modern, patient-centric surgical solutions.
