Rheumatology

Rheumatology is the medical study of rheumatism, arthritis, corrective tissue disorders and other disorders of the joints, muscles and ligaments. Our Department of Rheumatology provides patients with the diagnosis, treatment and physical therapy for these rheumatic diseases and ailments.

There are over 200 types of rheumatic diseases. Our rheumatologists, who are highly trained and experienced medical specialists, can help provide you with the right treatment. These rheumatic diseases can be separated into two categories which are musculoskeletal diseases and systemic autoimmune conditions.

Musculoskeletal diseases can affect the joints, muscles and bones causing pain, swelling and the loss of motion in the joint. Autoimmune conditions cause inflammation in areas that are not needed, resulting in damage to the body’s system such as the eyes, skin, nervous system and internal organs.
