What exactly is a telehealth consultation service?
A telehealth consultation service is the use of audio/video/text communications that allows healthcare providers to carry out medical consultations remotely. Consultations via telehealth differs from face-to-face doctor/patient visits, as both parties will be at separate locations. This type of healthcare service allows Columbia Asia doctors to provide consultations without the patient being physically present at the hospital.
What are the healthcare services available on this virtual platform?
Among services available on this platform are follow-up consultations with Columbia Asia Hospital consultants, prescriptions for drug refills as well as medicine home delivery (applicable only to Malaysian addresses). However, if the consultant decides that you should have a physical examination or diagnostic tests, you may be asked to go to the hospital for a face-to-face appointment.
How much will this teleconsultation cost me?
It is at a fixed rate of RM70 per consultation.
How long will each consultation take?
On average, each consultation will take about 15 to 20 minutes. It may take longer depending on the consultant’s discretion. Complex cases may require your presence at the hospital for a physical examination or diagnostic tests.
How can I be assured of privacy during these teleconsultations?
Teleconsultations are not recorded. Its platform is encrypted and utilizes HIPAA-compliant video technology. We understand and prioritize medical sensitivities so you can rest assured that your privacy and safety are secured.
How early should I make an appointment in order to speak to a doctor?
You can book your appointment and reserve your preferred slot up to three days in advance.
How do I make payment?
Proceed to the payment page after confirming your appointment. Choose your preferred payment method from the options given; credit/debit card, online banking or e-wallets such as TnG, Grab and Boost.
Am I able to cancel my appointment?
If you would like to cancel your appointment after it has been confirmed, payment will not be refunded. If the consultant suddenly becomes unavailable to participate or finish the teleconsultation, we will reschedule the appointment.
Am I able to reschedule my appointment?
To reschedule, you would need to contact the doctor’s clinic directly. However, as much as we understand that sometimes situations don’t always go our way, we would appreciate if you can maintain the slot reserved for you.
Can I claim teleconsultation fees from my insurance provider?
Any insurance claim is subjected to the coverage offered by respective insurance providers. We would advise you to contact your insurance provider regarding claims to do with teleconsultation.
How soon can I expect my medication to arrive?
Your medication will arrive on the same day as your teleconsultation, if prescribed and paid for before 6pm. After 6pm, medication will be delivered the next day. For Klang Valley, same day express delivery is available. For other states in Malaysia, delivery time is between one and two days.
